Suggestions on Using Spinners to Fish!

The spinner is a blade that rotates around on a spindle when water rushes by it, such as when you reel it in. The reflective feature of spinners adds an intriguing aspect as it flashes through the water when the light is reflected on the revolving blade. The bright flashing of the spinner is attractive to a fish as the bait darts through the water.

A spinner is a wonderful lure that has many uses. By reeling your line in faster or slower you can change the rate at which the blade revolves around the spindle, thereby giving off an air of natural movement to your prey. When fishing for Mullet or Trout you should use a smaller size spinner. Pike like the larger spinner, with the triple hook dressed in red wool. A good selection of spinners is a must for all lure anglers.

Some suggestion on casting Spinners:

There are tricks to mastering the use of spinners. When you cast with a spinning rod, always stop your lure by touching the spool with your fingertip. This does three important things: it takes the slack and twist out of the line; it puts the lure in the proper landing mode, plus it keeps those bothersome loops from forming in the spool. The worst thing you can do when using a spinning rod is cast up into the wind and stop the lure by cranking the reel. You will spend all day trying to keep the loops out of the spool.

Winged spinner flies are specifically created to lure in a fish by posing as a fly, which is a favorite delicacy for a hungry fish. This lure is made with a short striking treble hook which is fastened to the tail. When this is cast out and either left to fluctuate in a moving stream or reeled in, it creates an alluring, rhythmic motion which is almost irresistible to a curious fish.

A great approach to use when offering your lure to a fish is to allow the spinner to fall to the bottom when fishing in 6-18 feet of water. Try to keep the spinner as close to the bottom as you can and slowly bring it in while bumping or running into various obstacles down there where you are fishing. Fish love this kind of action.
